softball program, building on a strong foundation while creating new opportunities
for student-athletes to compete and grow. In its inaugural 2026 season, the Stars
made an immediate impact with a Section 4A Runner-Up finish, reflecting the
program’s commitment to excellence, development, and success both on and off the field.
The Gentry Academy Stars girls’ softball program began its inaugural season in the spring of 2026. Prior to 2026, Gentry Academy competed in partnership with Mounds Park Academy for several years as a cooperative team, helping establish a strong foundation for the program’s future. Gentry Academy now co-ops with Liberty Classical Academy, continuing to build meaningful partnerships while growing the game of softball.
In their inaugural season, the Stars made an immediate impact, finishing as the Section 4A Runner-Up—a tremendous accomplishment that reflects the talent, dedication, and competitive spirit of the student-athletes and coaching staff.
Gentry Academy has long been a place where student-athletes thrive, developing not only as individuals but also as dedicated and skilled softball players. That commitment to growth and excellence has helped many athletes continue their careers at the collegiate level, with Gentry Academy alumni competing across NCAA Division I, Division II, and Division III programs.
The Stars are led by co-head coaches Jon Walsh and Morgan Underwood, who bring leadership, experience, and a shared vision for building a competitive, positive, and student-athlete-focused team culture. The softball program is open to students in grades 7–12 and competes at both the junior varsity and varsity levels, providing opportunities for athletes at all stages of development.
With a strong foundation, a growing program, and a Section 4A Runner-Up finish in its inaugural season, Gentry Academy softball is building a tradition of excellence both on and off the field.
