Substitute Teachers

- Visit the PELSB (Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board) website to apply for a substitute license. Proof of your bachelor’s degree, background check, and fingerprints are required.
- When you receive an email with your license file number, apply for the substitute teacher by sending your resume to Jennifer.Kurth@gentryacademy.org, indicating you have applied for the license.
- Once your application is reviewed and accepted by Gentry Academy, you will receive an email with employment forms to complete.
- Pick the days, grade levels, subjects, and locations you want to work at each day!

Physical Education Teacher
Gentry Academy, a 5-12 charter school in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, is seeking a teacher whose primary responsibility will be teaching Physical Education for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond.
Gentry Academy is located on the TCO Sports Garden campus in a state-of-the-art building that was newly opened in the spring of 2017. Gentry Academy is designed for students who seek to be high-achieving leaders in life. Students are presented with a powerful opportunity to learn in a traditional classroom setting that integrates the core curriculum with a flexible W.I.N. (What I Need) schedule that allows students to focus on their desired disciplines and passions through academics, leadership and athletics.
Position Purpose
To develop students’ physical skills and abilities, strength, agility, poise, coordination, and teamwork; to develop students’ understanding of the importance of exercise to physical and mental well-being.
Essential Functions
- Develops and administers Physical Education classes to students in 5-12th grade.
- Align Physical Education Standards to curriculum
- Teaches knowledge of, and develops skills and abilities in, physical fitness, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities.
- Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school’s leadership policies and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Participates in weekly faculty meetings.
- Inspects equipment and field areas used to ensure they are in good and safe working order.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current physical education instructional methods, standards as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students, as well as relating to health education.
- Knowledge of physiology, health and nutrition, biology and biological functions, anatomy, hygiene, exercise, and best ways to promote physical and mental well-being.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by Administration.
Certification/License:
- State Certification as a Physical Education Teacher.

Girls Lacrosse Head Coach
Qualifications:
Gentry Academy is seeking a dynamic, highly qualified candidate to serve as Girls Head Lacrosse Coach for the 25-26 school year and beyond. Candidates are desired to have successful high school and/or collegiate level head coaching experience, and related successful experiences in educational leadership. Candidates should be experienced in building a comprehensive program, developing staff, and managing diverse program-wide elements in accordance with Gentry Academy mission and vision. Finally, all candidates should have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the commitment to develop and maintain positive relationships between the Stars Girls’ Lacrosse program and the local community. A valid Minnesota coaching certificate (or alternative qualifications) is required.

Gentry Academy School Athletics/Activities Director, who provides overall job objectives and observes performance in conjunction with the High School Principal.
Job Goals:
To instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize individual and team success. Concurrently, student-athletes shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride in accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and confidence. Coach shall demonstrate substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport as well as successfully establish positive relationships with all stakeholders.
